As written by Morgan – We had such a cool experience visiting Bryce Canyon this summer. It blows my mind how many unbelievable parks there are in Utah. Morgan grew up here and she hadn’t visited Bryce yet, so we did a little overnighter with Matt. The drive was good, pretty uneventful. We stopped in a little town on the way and got dinner at Henry’s drive in and had some yummy burgers and fries and Rosie tried her first French fry. She loved them just as much as we do. We got to the lodge in Bryce where we stayed and set up Rosie in the corner and we settled in for the night. Matt even slept with a mask on the whole night. We got up nice and early (But not as early as we planned of course) grabbed our bagged breakfast’s and headed out. The weather was quite comfortable, Morgan started out wearing a long sleeve but changed out of that soon after we started but it wasn’t crazy hot which was really nice. When we first got out Rosie actually seemed really interested in the scenery and was making lots of excited squeaks and pointing at all the views. We visited all of the various viewpoints, saw Thor’s hammer, then we did the Navajo Loop and Queen’s Garden. We got to go down the famous wall street which was really cool and we were literally the only ones walking down Wall Street for most of the hike. It was fun to be there before most of the crowds. Then we mostly explored inside the canyon. We started Navajo Loop and didn’t realize how long it was going to be, so we had left one of our water bottles in the car but it was fine and we filled up once we finished. There were several horse tours that we came upon while hiking and honestly on the really steep parts watching these people riding on the horses, looked really uncomfortable and I was glad to be walking. I even got to see my first rattle snake, it was sleeping under a tree in the shade and quite a few people were checking him out.
We stopped to give Rosie a feed and change her diaper and then she fell asleep again. As long as she is outside in nature she really is as happy as can be for the most part. I hauled her around in the baby backpack and she was a champion. I was definitely starting to feel it near the end of the hike. Multiple people commented that they had no idea that there was a baby back there because she was so calm and quiet or sleeping. Afterwards we drove to the very last viewpoint which only has a small little fence around the outlook which has a huge drop and I was thinking how it would be really scary to have little kids around who want to run all over the place. Kids on leashes didn’t seem so crazy in that moment. Luckily Rosie just hung out in the backpack. The view points were really stunning and it was fun to see the areas that we had been hiking in the few hours before hand from a completely different view. It was a fun little trip, but just such a reminder of the amazing spots that are all around us if we are able to take the time to explore them. Bryce really is the perfect bite size park to visit and we all felt totally content with just one full day of hiking. We got to see everything we wanted and then made the drive home. Matt bought the year pass so that he could come back with Jill, Parker and Madi. We will definitely be visiting again.
